Skiing in Venosta Valley in South Tyrol

The longest ski seasons in South Tyrol

In Vinschgau/Val Venosta valley, the ski season kicks off especially early and lasts well into spring. From mid-September, the glacier ski area Alpin Arena Senales in the Schnalstal/Val Senales valley invites skiers to make their first turns, while the ski area Sulden am Ortler/Solda all'Ortles opens its impeccably groomed slopes at the end of October. Both resorts guarantee snow reliability until early May, offering one of the longest ski seasons in South Tyrol.

Family-friendliness is a top priority in Venosta valley: kid-friendly slopes and ski schools directly in the villages make Sulden/Solda, Schnals/Senales, and Trafoi ideal for winter sports enthusiasts of all ages. The runs in the Trafoi ski area, located in the Stilfserjoch/Stelvio National Park, are perfect for families, while ambitious skiers can reach heights of up to 3,250 meters in Sulden and 3,212 meters in Schnals.

A particular highlight is the Iceman Ötzi Peak panoramic platform, located at 3,251 meters. It offers a breathtaking view of 126 three-thousand-meter peaks across three countries, as well as the discovery site of the world-famous ice mummy Ötzi. In the Sulden ski area, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy a stunning panorama of the majestic alpine trio: König/Gran Zebrù, Zebrù, and Ortler/Ortles mountain, with Ortler standing at 3,905 meters as the highest mountain in South Tyrol.
