Werner Tscholl, a Local Architect
An architectural pioneer
Born in Laces in 1955, Werner Tscholl is one of the pioneers of Alpine architecture. His extraordinary projects, such as “The Timmelsjoch Experience”, have attracted international attention.
Two of his most notable works are actually located in Laces/Latsch: the "Selimex" Company offices, a building designed as a sculpture and the "Turmchalet" of San Martino in Monte/St.Martin im Kofel, towering above the village. Located at the entrance of this locality, the company is housed in a contemporary castle on the water, a cuboid glass-plated building, which is illuminated at night. The cylindrical "Turmchalet" in San Martino in Monte is a stone tower, reminiscent of an escape tower that blends in perfectly with the San Martino landscape.
