In 1220, the Church of San Giovanni/ St. Johann in Taufers was built as a Romanesque church in the shape of a cross. The fully frescoed groined vault depicts its Byzantine influence. It is worth seeing the Late Romanesque frescoes. Whole sections of the walls of the predecessor church from the 9th century were used to build the church. Later, the church was used as a hospice church and served as a common room and sleeping place for pilgrims.
The church S. Johann in Taufers is open every day from 9.30 a.m. until 5.00 p.m..
