From the Tarscher Alm hut on the forest trail to the Zirmruanhütte hut (no service). Turn right on Alpine Trails towards Tarscher Joch. At the weather cross, continue on trail #2A, the Hochwaal trail. The fairly flat trail tracks the remnants of the old channel, originally directing water from Ulten to the Vinschgau valley side. Shortly before Latscher Joch (2,500 m), make a fairly steep descent northward back to your starting point.
