On the traces of the Giro d’Italia

General description

As racing cyclist one should meanwhile not miss this classic
On the 27th of May, 2014 won Nairo Quintana (MOV) this stage.

Route description

Our efforts start at Laces. Comfortable training to Coldrano and at the roundabout into the Val Martello. Past Morter start the first slopes and loop lines. The way can’t be missed: It always goes up, always along the street past the Santa Maria Church and the biathlon center until the barrier lake (1.843m). With the beautiful view on the lake we can take a breath- but this doesn’t last long times. Across other loop lines it goes up to the end of the Val Martello, where take a break in the guesthouse Schönblick (2.056). Afterwards it goes on the same tour back - mostly downhill – to Coldrano and the last kilometers to Laces.

Length 45.167 km

Cycling in Venosta Valley
With the period from March to late November offering ideal conditions for bike trips and excursions, the Vinschgau valley boasts the longest bike season in the Alpine region. Dedicated bike points also provide specialised cycling services, including bike shuttles across the entire valley, guided tours and professional advice. The Vinschgau also features a wonderfully effective bike hire network, with combined tickets enabling visitors to use public transport, hike bikes and even return them to different locations at no extra charge. And of course, dedicated bike hotels provide ideal accommodation for cycling enthusiasts.
