"Kastanienwaal" irrigation channel path

General description
Schlanderser Sonnenpromenade, the sun trail, lives up to its name, winding along Sonnenberg mountain, home to Mediterranean plants and chestnut trees, and through orchards down in the valley.

Route description
Begin your hike in the village centre of Schlanders and walk northeast to the end of the pedestrian zone and to the Spitalkirche church (next to the hospital). Follow the signs for
“Sonnenpromenade”. After a short ascent via the old Gröbenmauer, you reach the wide irrigation channel path. Proceed to the Pulverturm house. Take a left from there and use the narrow road between the first houses to return to the starting point.
