"Latschanderwaal" irrigation channel path

The "Latschanderwaal" irrigation channel path runs along trail no. 3 from Laces to Castelbello.

General description
Latschanderwaal Trail shows how vital water was for the farmes: parts of the channel are cut into rock. This longer but level trail leads from Latsch to Kastelbell.

Route description
Set out from the center of Latsch village. Take the road leading to Goldrain. After reaching Herilu, the little shopping center, turn into Roman-Köhle-Weg at the second junction. Continue on the Tisserweg trail through the underpass and keep right to move on the Waalweg trail #3. While wild and rocky at first, the scenery soon changes to gentle vineyards and orchards. After passing Kastelbell Castle, your tour ends at Kastelbell village square.
Description to arrive at destination
Coming from Merano or Resia, turn off at the roundabout in Laces, directly at the entrance to the village is the St. Martin im Kofel cable car station, where you will find a large car park. Alternatively, you can also travel to Laces by public transport.

There is a large free car park at the St. Martin im Kofel cable car station.
Public transport
Take the train from Malles/Mals or Merano/Meran to Laces/Latsch and start your hike on the Waalweg irrigation channel path from there.
