From the Tarscher Alm hut on the forest trail to the Zirmruanhütte hut (no service). Turn right on Alpine Trails towards Tarscher Joch. At the weather cross, continue on trail #2A, the Hochwaal trail. The fairly flat trail tracks the remnants of the old channel, originally directing water from Ulten to the Vinschgau valley side.
