Ski Tour to the Suldenspitze Peak

Those who want to experience the mighty mountains of the Ortler region up close, should make the ski tour to the Suldenspitze peak (3,375 m).

General description

If you want to experience the most powerful mountains of all mountains up close, you shouldn't miss a ski tour to the Suldenspitze peak. This tour is with a duration of 4 hours and 6 km an easy tour and rewards the ski tourers with an unique alpine panorama of Königsspitze Peak, König Ortler Peak and Cevedale Peak.

Route description

From the Solda/Sulden cable car mountain station at 2,600 m, to the ski slope towards the Suldenferner glacier. After crossing the ski slope, head left and uphill to the glacier. Now take the steep slope to the right until just below the Suldenspitze, where the trail leads to the Casatihütte mountain hut. Continue left to the Janiger Scharte gap (3,366 m). Head over the crest down to the left into a depression and cross the western ridge to the flat peak.

Description to arrive at destination

From Spondigna/Spondinig via the street to the Stelvio Pass SS 38 to Gomagoi, then left to Solda. At the End of the village there is the starting point at the parking area of the Cable Car Station Solda.

From Spondigna to the parking area at the Cabel Car Station is it approx. 20 km.

 

Parking

In order to get to the starting point of the ski tour, the parking area at the bottom station of the Cable Car Solda is the most suitable.

Public transport

If you don't want to travel to Solda by private car, you can use the pubblic transport. With the bus line 271 you get to Solda in almost half an hour. The bus stop is located directly at the valley station of the Cable Car Solda, from there it goes in approx. 5 minutes to the start of the tour.

Safety instructions

Ski tourers should look at the avalanche danger report and the weather forecast and plan the tour as best as possible. You may also be willing to take an alternative tour if it's to dangerous.
