Fishing in Venosta Valley in South Tyrol
Fishing Facilities in Venosta Valley
The Merano Fishing Association owns the fishing rights for the entire Venosta Valley, from the Malga S. Valentino Lake to the village of Tel/Töll with all its inflows on a stretch of seven km along the Passer River in Merano/Meran. There are more than 150 km of managed rivers and streams in the area of Venosta Valley.
The typical fish species in the home waters are veined trout, river trout, rainbow trout, brook trout and grayling. Smaller fish species can be found in the mountain lakes.
The northernmost area around Resia Lake retains its own fishing rights. In adjacent Malga S. Valentino Lake, one of the most beautiful natural lakes in the Alpine region, fishermen can also find a place to cast their lines free of care. For fishing a fishing license (valid 10 years) type B or D as well as a fishing card for the day will be required. The dairy fishing card for the Malga S. Valentino
lake can be bought at the boathouse, the Hotel Alpenrose near the fishermen's houses and the bakery in San Valentino alla Muta/St. Valentin a.d.H. The dairy fishing card for the Resia Lake can be bought at the Tourist informations in Resia/Reschen and San Valentino alla Muta.
In the fishing ponds of the Venosta Valley holiday region you can fish without license with a daily permit for the respective pond.
