Venosta Valley
Grain path
From Stelvio via the Archaic Trail to Prato allo Stelvio
General description
In the Upper Venosta Valley, farmers have mainly grown rye over the last 150 years. Winter rye also grew at higher altitudes. In addition to rye, oats and barley also grew in the area around Stilfs. The farmers used the rye and barley for cooking and baking, while the oats were fed to the animals. The grain trail leads past the grain fields that still exist in Stelvio today.
Route description
From the bus stop in Stelvio follow the path towards the village center and then the route description Archaikweg. The path leads through the village with its impressive narrow streets and beyond. The Stilfser ground fields can be seen at the bottom right. Trail no. 11 continues downhill to the Agums fraction in Prad. Once you reach the main road, follow the Kreuzweg and walk through the village to the bus stop on the main square. From there, take the 271 bus back to Stelvio.
