Stelvio National Park is the second largest conservation area in the whole of the Alps. The landscape of this much-admired protected national park is characterized by glaciers and areas of rugged rock. The park encompasses the entire Ortles-Cevedale group, the highest mountains in the state. Hikes like the
Goldseeweg trail, die
Hintere Schöntaufspitze, the
Solda Glacier Trail or the
Piz Chavalatsch come highly recommended.
Alongside snow and ever-present ice, active hikers and mountaineers can expect to find a number of inviting and much-beloved mountain huts.
