Skitour to the Cima Vertana

From the Cima Vertana you can see the Gran Zebru and the Ortler.

General description

The ski tour to the Cima Vertana (3.545 m) is a wonderful tour in Solda. The sporty challenge is not to be underestimated with 1.600 meters of altitude difference, as well as the breathtaking descent.

Route description

You start at the parking lot above the valley station of the cable car. Afterwards turn left into the valley. The lower part is mostly filled up by a big avalanche, so in spring you use a path on the left side of the creek, which mostly leads up snow-free, where the valley gets wider. Follow the middle of the valley always upwards until you reach a plain under an icefall. Starting on the left side of this plain, one reaches a steep slope and over this to the right to the glacier (3050 m).
Always stay on the left edge of the glacier, always following a flat path towards Rosimjoch (attention: crevasses on the right!). In front of the yoke there is a ramp to the left under the south-eastern ridge of the Cima Vertana. A short steep right ascent onto this ridge. The summit is visible quite far back.
Then a large ramp flat left under the crest leads far into the basin. The last steep part may be reached without skis. The descent is on the way back.
