At an altitude of 1,525 meters in the mountains, about
20 minutes by foot from the village of Resia/Reschen near the South Tyrolean border, lies the source of the Adige River which runs the entire length of South Tyrol and Trentino, flowing through Veneto and finally into the Adriatic. At 415 km long, it is the second longest river in Italy and, for South Tyrol, that means not only water and a source of life, but also electricity and commerce.
The magnificent walk leading to the source of the Adige River begins at the village of Resia following the marked no. 2
Venosta Valley High Mountain Trail. Visitors and hikers can drink the pure, clear water that flows straight out of the ground through a stoney channel.
