"Neuwaal" irrigation channel path

General description
On Neuwaal, a high-altitude irrigation channel, narrow paths and wooden footbridges take you through larch woods to the serene Schlandraun valley. Sure-footedness and a head for heights required.

Refreshment stop: Schlanderser Alm hut and Kortscher alm hut (in the summer month)
Water flow: May-October
Route description
Set out by car from Kortsch in the direction of Sonnenberg mountain until you reach Aussereggen farm. Take trail #15, Vinschgau High Mountain trail, to the junction with Neuwaal. Follow this scenic trail for approx. 45 minutes to the junction with forest trail #4. Keep ascending to Schlanderser Alm hut, then continue for another 30 minutes to Kortscher Alm hut. Both are open from mid-June to the end of September. Enjoy the opportunity for a break before returning on the same route.

From Reschen or Meran to Schlanders/Kortsch, up the Sonnenberg road to the Aussereggen farm.

Public transport

By the Venosta train to Schlanders and by the Citybus to Kortsch. Then you have to continue on foot to the Aussereggen farm - additional walking time about 2,5 hours.
