The
tours through the huge underground bunkers in Upper Venosta Valley
guarantee an exciting journey into the 20th century. As a place of
transition over the Alps, the Venosta Valley has always been of military
interest. Romans, Habsburgs and Napoleon's army passed here, and the
Second World War has left its mark. These traces however are not visible
to the naked eye, because they are monumental underground bunkers that
were planned as a defense facilities and places of refuge. Yet, the
hidden fortresses of the defensive alpine wall were never utilized
militarily.
Today, the relics of the interwar period are embedded in the
surrounding fruit orchards and pastures. History buffs should not miss
the guided bunker tours.

Guided bunker tours: Fortress, hideout & fortified castle
Come with us to visit the mysterious bunkers of the Upper Vinschgau, architectural relics from the interwar period, monumental defence installations and last refuges. Embedded in the patchwork of the Upper Vinschgau cultural landscape and well camouflaged by meadow vegetation and trees, these fortifications are hardly recognisable as part of the Alpine Wall.
