The Slingia Nordic Ski Center near Watles is a highly-rated spot for cross-country skiers and biathletes. Athletes from many countries meet here every year for international competitions. In 2009, the Italian championships took place in Slingia/Schlinig, and in 2008 the junior world championships were held here. The 22 km long route is perfectly suited for both classical style and skating. A moderately difficult trail leads from Slingia at 1.726 m a.s.l. to the Schliniger Alm Alpine pasture with a total height distance of 150 meters.

The ski center has changing rooms, toilets, its own cross-country ski school and its own laundry service. Cross-country skiers without their own equipment can rent cross-country skis and accessories at the Sport Ziernheld shop in Slingia.

The use of the cross country slopes is at cost. Tickets are available at the following offices: Sport Ziernheld Slingia, valley station Watles, Information office Malles and Burgusio.
