Hike to the Malga Zirmtal

General description

Hike on Nörderberg of Castelbello-Ciardes to the picturesque Zirmtals Lake and Malga Zirmtal.

Route description

The "old sawmill" car park on the Monte Franco of Kastelbell is the starting point for this hike. Head eastward, rather steeply uphill on foot, along the wide service road (trail no. 7) and through the shady forest to Malga di Marzon. Head southwest from here on trail no. 18 via the "Friglbach" stream through the cool forest up to the clearing near the former "Schweinsstall". Continue on the rocky trail through the valley and straight on up to the scenic Zirmtal lake and the rustic Malga Zirmtal nearby. Descend by reversing the route as described above.
